ion masternode configuration guide (QT/iond)

Masternode Via Daemon

Generate Masternode Key
./iond masternode genkey

Generate new account address
./iond getaccountaddress <account name>

Send Exactly 20000 ion to the address you just generated – 15 confirmations needed for masternode.

Stop The iond server
./iond stop

Edit the configuration file to add the masternode configurations
Cd
cd.ion
sudo nano ion.conf

Enter the following into your ion.conf

daemon=1
rpcuser=MAKEITSECURE
rpcpassword=MAKEITSECURE
rpcthreads=100
server=1
listen=1
dnsseed=1
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcport=ANYTHINGNOTINUSE
port=ANYTHINGNOT IN USE
staking=0
masternode=1
mnconflock=0
masternodeaddr=PUBLIC_IP_OF_SERVER:PORT
masternodeprivkey=MASTERNODEKEY

ctrl+x to exit
y + enter to save

Start the ion server

cd
cd ion/src
sudo ./iond
 

Start the masternode
./iond masternode start

A message informing you of the status of the masternode will appear.

  

Masternode creation VIA QT Wallet

From Synced and Running QT
Click Masternodes tab
Click My ion Nodes tab
Click “create” button

Alias: Friendly Name of your choosing
Address: public ip of your masternode wallet and port (111.111.111.111:2222)

Click OK

Click the “Get Config” button.
Copy the Masternodekey= and masternodeaddr= lines, we will use those later

Send exactly 20000 ion to the new address in your receive tab. 15 confirmation for a masternode

Edit the ion.conf file

Default Locations for ion.conf
Windows: %appdata%\ion
OSX:  ~/Library/Application Support/ion
Linux ~/.ion

Add/Enter the following to the ion.conf file and save the file when complete

daemon=1
rpcuser=MAKEITSECURE
rpcpassword=MAKEITSECURE
rpcthreads=100
server=1
listen=1
dnsseed=1
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcport=ANYTHINGNOTINUSE
port=ANYTHINGNOTINUSE
staking=0
masternode=1
mnconflock=0
masternodeaddr=PUBLIC_IP_OF_SERVER:PORT
masternodeprivkey=MASTERNODEKEYYOUGENERATED

Save and close the edited ion.conf

 

Start the ion-qt after editing the .conf file with your masternode information
Click the masternodes tab
Click My ion nodes
Highlight the selected masternode you wish to start
Click the “start” button.

A dialogue box informing you of the status of the masternode will appear.
